The Charlea Community Garden in Brimscombe is a picturesque meadow on the sunny side of the Golden Valley just outside Stroud.
The land was formerly used as an allotment garden but this ceased around 20 years ago when plot users were told that the owners were seeking to sell the land for development. The community were concerned at the potential loss of this much-loved informal play space that adjoins AONB countryside and secured the site as a Community Asset. The land was in the process of being examined for village green status when landowners, The Bisley Feoffees, decided to generously gift it to the community in order to enable the former allotment land to be used as a community green space, saving it from future development.
Please join us to have your say in how the new Charlea Community Garden can be used and enjoyed by the community to protect it for future generations.
The garden will be managed by the Charlea Community Gardens Community Interest Company.
